Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform at Van Andel Arena on Saturday, January 2nd at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
While most other performers are still focused on their summer touring schedules, perennial touring favorite is already looking forward to the 2009 holiday season. The rock orchestra has plotted its usual two-pronged tour for late fall that includes more than 100 individual performances in 85 cities.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has been a holiday staple on the tour circuit since the symphonic rock group first hit the road in 1999. Separate East and West Coast touring groups were instated in 2000, allowing the TSO to perform simultaneous shows and hit more markets across the U.S. and Canada.
Two sections of the holiday-geared musical group will hit the road on November 1 with parallel performances at the Chevrolet Center in Youngstown, OH, and the Mid-America Center in Omaha, NE. The North American circuit will be completed early in the New Year with similar performances on January 3 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH, and the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN.
“Night Castle,” the new TSO album, is set to be released Tuesday, October 27th. It will include a version of "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, which was previewed live by TSO during their 2004-2008 tours.
Ticket prices are $61.00, $51.00, $41.00 and $25.00. Tickets go on sale Monday, September 21 at 10 AM and will be available at the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place® box offices, Ticketmaster ticket centers including D&W Stores and select Family Fare locations, charge by phone: 1.800.745.3000 or on-line: ticketmaster.com.
One dollar from each ticket purchased will go to God’s Kitchen. God’s Kitchen, a program of Catholic Charities West Michigan, helps to feed the hungry with dignity and respect. Located in the Heartside Neighborhood of urban Grand Rapids, God’s Kitchen served over 195,000 meals in 2008 and provides service through two programming initiatives.
