The Guest Services department at Van Andel Arena strives to provide excellent service to all our guests, including those guests with disabilities and special needs. Van Andel Arena recognizes the needs of persons with disabilities and has met or exceeded the requirements of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Michigan accessibility mandates. Van Andel Arena provides a full range of accommodations for guests with disabilities to ensure their safety, comfort and enjoyment of our events and facilities.

Assistive Listening Devices are available for hearing-impaired guests at all Van Andel Arena events. Please visit our Guest Services booth located behind section 104 on the Main Concourse and request an Assisted Listening Device. Guests will be required to leave valid identification such as a driver's license as collateral. This is a complimentary service.
The Arena is equipped with automatic doors for easy access. Concession stands, counters, and drinking fountains are at a convenient height for everyone.
Arena elevators are located in the north end of the Arena’s main lobby, in the employee entrance (southeast corner of Arena), and inside the Suite entrance (southwest corner of Arena).
The Arena escalator is located in the main lobby of the Arena.
Van Andel Arena personnel have been properly trained in emergency evacuation procedures to ensure the safe evacuation of all patrons, including those guests with disabilities, in the case of an emergency. Please pay careful attention to the personnel instructions should an evacuation situation arise.
The First Aid Station is staffed by certified personnel from AMR. Any building staff member can assist you in getting to the First Aid Station.
Guests with hearing or visual impairments needing assistance may contact our ADA Coordinator. Van Andel Arena is pleased to provide sign language interpreters for our hearing-impaired guests for select events. Interpretation services are not guaranteed for every event; however, we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice, at least two (2) weeks prior to the event, preferably prior to the event going on-sale.
The Michigan Relay Service can relay calls between a person with a TDD phone and any other phone user. Specifically trained personnel are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to relay the call. To use the Michigan Relay Service, simply pick up any phone and dial 711 to reach relay services.
Accessible parking is available in Area 4, located south of Van Andel Arena with entrances on Oakes Street and Cherry Street. Additional accessible parking is available in other surrounding lots with designated spaces, including van-accessible spaces, for vehicles displaying a current state-issued disability placard or license plate. Accessible spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please plan accordingly. To purchase accessible seating, please visit the Van Andel Arena Box Office. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Additional hours are available during events and event on-sales. When ordering accessible tickets, it is important to indicate that you require accessible seating so we can properly seat you. Accessible seating is also available for purchase through Ticketmaster by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and on-line at Ticketmaster.com.
Restrooms accessible to guests in wheelchairs are located throughout the Arena. The Arena has two family restrooms on the third floor by the north elevator and two family restrooms on the terrace level, convenient for disabled guests with opposite gender aides/companions.
Wheelchair accessible, semi-ambulatory and removable armrest seating is located in various sections and levels throughout the Arena.
Trained guide dogs, signal dogs, or service animals assisting guests with disabilities are welcome in the seating area of the individual with a disability, rather than in the aisle. We suggest that the individual have proof of certification or a license for the service animal.
Every reachable sign has Braille lettering.
Van Andel Arena is accessible by The Rapid public bus service. For more information about bus routes, please visit ridetherapid.org.
Van Andel Arena will provide complimentary wheelchair escorts to guests with special needs when requested. Escorts are available at any entry point or guests may make advance escort arrangements by contacting the Van Andel Arena security department. Please be aware that our staff will not remain with you during the event, nor will they allow you to remain in the wheelchair for the duration of the event.
For guests who wish to transfer to a seat from their own personal wheelchair, we will store your wheelchair at our Guest Services booth or another location depending on your seat location. Our staff will make arrangements to return the wheelchair to you at the end of the event, or any other time you would prefer.
