Van Andel Arena® Closes 2019 as Billboard’s #2 North American Venue
Grand Rapids Venue is #7 Worldwide on 2019 Year-End Boxscore Chart
Grand Rapids — Van Andel Arena is starting 2020 on a high note. Billboard recently released its year-end Boxscore Charts for 2019, and the ASM Global-managed arena is shown among the highest-grossing venues worldwide.
Billboard lists Van Andel Arena as the #2 venue in North America (#7 worldwide) for all venues with a capacity range of 10,001-15,000. (See Page 2 for the Top 10 Boxscore Chart.)
Billboard used total reported gross ticket sales for engagements that played between Nov 1, 2018 and Oct. 31, 2019. Over that span, Van Andel Arena hosted a number of Billboard’s Top 40 Tours’s Top 40 Tours of the year, including Metallica, KISS, Cher, Shawn Mendes, Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, Eric Church, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, New Kids On The Block, and Twenty One Pilots. The arena featured 69 events in 2019, grossing over $37 million according to the Boxscore Chart.

The arena welcomes more top tours on Billboard’s year-end list in 2020 as well. Post Malone makes his debut Van Andel Arena appearance on Feb. 12, Michael Bublé stops by on Mar. 31, and Elton John takes the stage Apr. 23. truTV’s Impractical Jokers “Cranjis McBasketball World Comedy Tour” starring The Tenderloins will be the arena’s first event of the year on Jan. 9 followed by Winter Jam on Jan. 19, Harlem Globetrotters on Jan. 26, Korn & Breaking Benjamin on Jan. 30, PBR: Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour on Feb. 1, The Lumineers on Feb. 11, Luke Combs on Feb. 15, and Disney On Ice presents Celebrate Memories Feb. 27 through Mar. 1. Among the venues making the Top 10, ASM Global manages seven of them.
